Lavender is commonly known for its benefits to skin, and can be used for insect bites, burns, acne, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis and wounds. It's analgesic qualities make it a useful addition to blends that address muscle and joint aches and pains. Lavender is the ultimate stress reducer, having a harmonizing effect on the nervous system. It can be helpful when addressing manifestations of stress, like spasms and cramping, pain, headaches, nervous tension, irritability and mental fatigue. A go-to for insomnia, particularly when it is associated with hormonal changes, anxiety or mental chatter. It is popular in women's health, particularly for menstrual cramping (10 drops in 1 ounce massage oil, rub on lower abdomen and cover with hot compress). Also used during childbirth to decrease anxiety and decrease pain. It is also used in respiratory applications for colds, flu, bronchitis and throat infections.
