Rosemary is useful in skin care preparations as it is nurturing to aging, dry skin.
The chemical constituent verbonone is great for breaking up thick mucous, and therefore a helpful addition to recipes that address sinus and nasal congestion. It is reputed to increase circulation to the scalp and used in treatments to increase hair growth. Rosemary is considered a "cephalic" oil, meaning it has a stimulating and clearing quality for the mind, while improving memory.
Rosemary should be avoided during pregnancy and with those with epilepsy. The verbonone chemotype is safe for children over 2 years old at a 1% dilution. (5 drops per 1 ounce/30 mL carrier). Skin sensitization is possible if using old and/or oxidized oils. Essential Oils are typically used via inhalation and/or topical application while properly diluted. Do not take internally unless working with a qualified aromatherapy practitioner to address a specific health need, for a specified period of time. Keep away from children and pets.
