How to Use Essential Oils Without a Diffuser

Do you need a diffuser for essential oils? Not necessarily—you can actually use essential oils in a multitude of ways that have nothing to do with a diffuser. We’ve pulled together a few specifics below.

How do you use essential oils if you don’t have a diffuser? (7 ways)

1. Make a Room Spray

Drop a few drops of your favorite essential oils into a spray bottle filled with water. Shake well and spray your mix into the air, on bed linens, or even on curtains. A quick tip: Always shake well before using as oil and water do not stay mixed.

2. Use Wooden Clothespins

Drop a few drops of oil onto wooden clothespins and pin them in your closet. Tip: Lavender essential oil is really good for deterring insects and cloth-eating moths.

3. Use Pinecones

Pinecones are woody, absorbent, and even a little charming to have around the house. If you find a few around your yard, bring them in, add a few drops of your favorite scents, and enjoy.

4. Scent Your Furnace Filter

Your furnace or central AC filter is positioned in a way that all treated air moving out into your home goes through it. If you’re looking to scent your entire home, add a few of your favorite drops to the filter. Tip: Try peppermint essential oil if the whole house comes down with a cold.

5. Toilet Paper/Paper Towel Rolls

Drop 2 or 3 drops in a roll when you put it on a holder and the aromatics will literally last for days. Works great to keep small rooms like your bathroom smelling fresh with something like Lemongrass or Sweet Orange oils.

6. Use Cotton Balls

Put a few drops on a cotton ball or cotton pad and hide the scented fluff around the house or office. The oil will slowly evaporate. A quick tip: Cotton balls work exceptionally well to get the last few drops of oil out of a bottle.

7. In the shower

Curious how to use essential oils in the shower? You have a few options. One, you can add a few drops to a washcloth and place it near the showerhead or somewhere in steam but not in direct contact with water. Two, you can add a few drops to a cup of warm water and set it in the shower with you.

Yes. In fact, some blends work well for cleaning the microwave. You simply place a bit of the oil in a bowl of water in the microwave and heat for a few minutes and then wipe down the interior with paper towels.

Always Opt for Quality Essential Oils

One of the first things people often do when they discover the many benefits of essential oils is to go out and buy a diffuser. However, if you don’t have the money to buy a diffuser just yet, you can still reap the benefits of essentials in your everyday life. Most important, always opt for high-quality oils from a reliable supplier. Be sure to take a look at our collection of essential oils and essential oil blends at AroMed Essentials.
